Learning how to recognize and report child abuse is our first step in being a voice for the many child victims that silently suffer abuse.
MAKE A REPORT:
STEP 1: Gather Information
- The more identifying and locating information provided, the more effective CPS can be when investigating the case.
STEP 2: Make the Report
- Even things that may seem insignificant can have meaning to an investigator.
SIGNS OF ABUSE: (can include but not limited to)
BEHAVIORAL
- age-inappropriate sexual knowledge
- sudden onset of fear of adults and/or places
PHYSICAL
- unexplained genital injuries
- frequent urinary tract infections
What is GROOMING? taking an undue interest in someone's child
- showing pornography to the child
- talking about age-inappropriate sexual topics or adult issues with child
- inappropriate touching, i.e., tickling or wrestling
- encouraging inappropriate sexual behavior from child
- making excuses to be alone with child
- viewing child nude or exposing self/nudity to child
